Education & Experience

Jane Kratz grew up in Johannesburg but lived for over twenty years in Cape Town, South Africa. She moved to the USA in May 2016 to study at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and graduated with her Th.M. in Biblical Counseling in Dec 2017. While in the USA she served as a counsellor at several churches. She returned to Johannesburg at the end of 2018 to join Hope Church in Auckland Park where she served in biblical counselling and women’s ministry full time for three years.  She currently is on staff at Kommetjie Christian Church as a counsellor, and also counsels for several other churches and individuals in and around the Fish Hoek valley.

Jane was blessed by just over ten years of marriage to Stephan Kratz, who struggled his whole life with Cystic Fibrosis. When she married him, Jane was aware that Stephan would, likely, die before her. Since his death in September 2012, Jane has furthered her theological studies to equip herself for a ministry in Biblical Counseling. She has a special interest in caring for the bereaved, having focused much of her studies and research on grief care. Jane was also born with several congenital abnormalities, giving her a heart of compassion for those who are less able-bodied than most.

Jane loves to counsel the Word of God because it is “alive and powerful, sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword” and “exposes our innermost thoughts and desires” (Heb 4:12). Seeing how God works by his Spirit and through his living Word in the lives of people brings her the greatest joy. Jane counsels a wide range of life-issues but has personal experience and specialized training in dealing with anticipatory grief, illness, bereavement, and disability-related issues.
